the working college gal

Believe it or not, I am a busy college student.

And?
I like it.

Having a job, school, homework, friend time and family matters is freaking awesome. It gets a little hectic and chaotic, sometimes, but that only makes it better.

See, for twenty years, I was boring. I was just lazy and had loads of free time. I was livin' "the life." But after so long, I realized I didn't really like, "the life," very much. (even though sometimes i won't/wouldn't admit it.) I wanted a busy life that gave me purpose. Now, I'm proud to announce that after years of procrastination and such, I have a busy life and I'm enjoying myself, incredibly.

Its 12:48 p.m. right now and I still have homework to do, I've had a busy day and tomorrow will be even more busy. I think in a normal situation I'd be going crazy with the stress and overwhelming amount of "stuff," but if you saw me right now, you'd see a smile pasted on my face.

Because I like being a busy college student.

a deeper me

Tonight while I was blog-stalking my friends, a particular blog caught my attention. It was the blog of an old, dear friend of mine. The idea of her post came from the blog of her friend, who came from the blog of another friend, I believe. Anyway, I loved it and decided I wanted to do it, too. Its a countdown about myself! Its random, but its cute.

Read if you'd like to or go ahead and ignore this post. I'll still think you're cool because you read this far...

I will think and worry about me/that particular person for hours/days/weeks.

summa lovin'

Yesterday, June 21st, was the first official day of summer. Summer is here. Hallelujah!

::happy dance::

My darling sister, Savannah, is at her first year of Girls Camp, right now {i miss her} so Adi-Lu and I decided to welcome in the beautiful summer season by going to 7 Peaks water park.

warning: i was particularly un photogenic, today.

7 Peaks was b.u.s.y.! Apparently we weren't the only ones who had the genius idea to go play in the sunshine and water. Shoot

It was an incredible 98 degrees and the water was warm and cozy.

I talked Miss Adi into braving the "big" slides. In the words of the little beauty, she had, "so many butterflies I have to go potty," but that gutsy gal did it and loved them so much we went on them several times! The picture below is Adi on that blue slide...You fly down the slides really fast so I sort of missed her. (she is down there near the bottom of the long, blue slide) (oh, and the picture above is my shadow while i was wasting time waiting for adi to shoot down the slide)

Happy Summer, everyone! Lets not forget what a perfect season this is and make the most of it! :)

Sticky & Colorful

It is summer. (well, basically) My summer seems to be revolving around one thing:

Snow Cones

This is especially weird for me because never in my entire life have I been one of those people who, once summer comes around, craves snow cones. In all honesty, I've never really even liked snow cones. If I went an entire summer without one, I'd be a-okay.

But! When you take a summer job working in two local snow shacks, you become much better acquainted with them and, dare I say it, maybe even like them and crave them. (and get your fam. hooked, too)

I love my job. Even though some days are mind-bogglingly slow, its a fun job to have. I'm one lucky-ducky. It is fun/funny to come home from work with good money from tips, sticky arms and legs from sugar water and colorful hands from all the different syrups.

However, the main point of this post was that you know your summer revolves around snow cones when your sisters makes snow cones out of anything, really anything for you. This is definitely something that we never would have done before this year. Never.

Today while Savannah was doing dishes, she would fill cups up with bubbly soap and give them to me-snow cones!
I've received several drawings. of? -snow cones!
{pictured below} Adi has a little sandbox. What does she make with the sand and some caution cones?-snow cones!

Ah, snow cones :)
Cute.

On a completely different topic, my Angus puppy is still cute as ever!
About a week ago we took him to the vet..the little man is a whopping one pound ten ounces.
He is a hyper, wiggly little squeaky toy...who I'm sort of crazy in-love with!

(this is one of my favorite pass times - taking naps or snuggling with my two boys)
(in other news, walter is maybe finally sort of deciding to give angus a chance and not always be completely annoyed by him..fyi: angus LOVES walter (: ...heres to hoping their love grows (in walters case) and lasts!)

Perry

Perry the Platypus
is the adorable little crime-fighting platypus on Phinneas and Ferb.

The other day, my adorable little energetic sister Adi drew a picture of him.
It was too cute not to share.

My Closet & I...

We have a few needs.

Remember how I have insomnia? Remember how I've said I can waste countless hours googling random things on the internet? Yeah, I've been doing that, tonight..and I have work tomorrow at 9am. Oh well-not even tired.

But really, look at these things. Love.

These are too cool.

This dress just makes me happy.

If you were thinking about getting me any of these items, these are what I want the most. Ah, please?!

These remind me of the ocean, I think.

Technically, I guess this is a wedding dress..but I really love white sundresses and this ones darling.

Alright, thats all. Maybe I'll sleep now, but probably not. Maybe facebook needs some tlc from me...

Thankful Day 10

SCHOOL & WORK

Believe it or not, yes, I'm thankful for school and for work.

I'm thankful for school. (wow, mom and dad, did you ever think i'd say that?!) I'm grateful I have the opportunity to learn and am able to take classes that are specific to things that I want to learn about. (college is better than high school in that way) I'm grateful I get to meet new people and have new opportunities and experiences because of school and the people there. UVU is a great school, I'm thankful I am lucky enough to go because I know some people don't get these opportunities.

I'm thankful for work. I work at a sno shack not too far away from my house and I'm also an assistant yoga instructor at a class at UVU. They're both very new jobs to me but so far I love them and I love the social aspect of it and the fact that I feel like I have purpose! Also, the money sure isn't a bad thing :)

Thankful Day 9

QUOTES

I love 'em.

Quotes are great because you can relate to them, learn from them, create them, be in aw by them, etc. I've always been a quote-aholic...I love the happy ones, the sad ones, you know, all of them. Quotes are g.r.a.n.d.

I'm not sure that I have a favorite quote at the moment, my favorites change depending on my mood & what I'm going through. I have a few saved quotes on the computer..I chose a few random ones and decided they were the lucky ones that got posted on this days 'thankful.'

Thankful Day 8

BRAVERY

Today my best friend, Whitney, and I tried country dancing. We were scared. We had pretty much no idea what to expect and although we were super excited, we were also border-line chickening out. But, we stayed brave and we went and we had the BEST time! Who knew country dancing could be so, so fun?!

I am still a little dizzy, though. Lots and lots and lots of spinning! :)

Thankful Day 7

Todays thankful is: DRIVES

There is probably nothing I love more than going on nice long (or short) drives in the car. Its therapy. Its happiness. Its fabulous. All sorts of drives are fun. Drives by myself, drives with my mommy, drives with my friends (like tonight, thanks whit!), drives with my sisters, drives with my daddy-o, drives with the whole fam, you get the picture.

I just looove talking and listening to music-if its warm with the windows down, if its cold with the heater and seat warmers on.

Mmm, drives :)

Gratitude

{a school assignment...my teacher is all about getting her students outside of their comfort zone. this is usually a challenge i don't participate in, but i was feeling gutsy today. so, here it is. if you care to read, enjoy.}

I, Chelsea Kate Walker, am so, so very fortunate. Today, as I sat in my car in the school parking lot, a man, probably a few years older than me walked by. I quickly noticed he was well dressed, then I noticed he had an awful limp. Upon closer examination, I saw this man had a lot of physical damage done to all parts of his body I could see. It looked to me as if he'd been a burn-victim. As soon as I saw this, my thoughts immediately turned to gratitude for how fortunate I am. I admire than man. I can't imagine what he's been through and I can't imagine how fortunate he must feel, he survived a tragedy, can walk, go to school, support himself, etc. We are blessed people.
Usually, actually, always, when I think of, or feel gratitude, I think of my kind and gracious, Heavenly Father. Yes, the Lord gives us trials, disabilities and insecurities, but time has taught me He does this not out of anger or cruelty, but out of indescribable, undying LOVE. Whenever I'm faced with a new trial, or I see someone else go through a trial, I like to think of it as a compliment from God. He doesn't give us, His children, trials we can't handle or overcome. That, to me, means Heavenly Father knows how strong we truly are and when He gives us these trials, He is giving us, too, the opportunity to get a glimpse of our strength.
Perhaps the best part of these hardships is that we never ever have to face them, alone. NO matter what the issue is, we can get on our knees and seek help from the Lord. He will never forsake us. He hears prayers. He is the Almighty and will never leave us feeling comfortless or alone.
I'm so grateful I was able to see that man who inspired me to dig deeper into my gratitude and further recognize God's love for His children. I am thankful that his presence reminded me that, yes, hard times are inevitable, but there is always a way to make the best of a bad situation and grow and learn from it, and become a stronger person by doing so.
Life is a gift and a test and I'm grateful, from the bottom of my heart, that I've been given the opportunity to live on earth and learn and grow stronger from the experiences my Heavenly Father has given me, graciously.

Thankful Day 5

Memory.

I know this is sort of a weird 'thankful,' but I truly am thankful for memories.

I am very thankful that I can remember things-the good the bad, the happy the sad, the pretty the ugly, etc. I'm thankful that I have so many memories, as well. I'm thankful for the memories I've made and for the opportunities I have to play those memories back in my mind.
